on pixiv a lot of the art from nikohada is literally tagged 「シーメール」 ("shemale" phonetically), so blame the artist.
That terminology is still used in japan and i don't think it's fallen out of fashion as quickly there as it maybe has in the west among certain communities. "newhalf" is also used as a tag, and literal "shemale" in romaji (latin characters).
Not saying that's "right," but it is what it is.

if you don't like the tag "shemale" on here, go complain about it on the forum and propose a renaming of it (…in the appropriate forum section, probably the vigilante, or you will only be laughed at). But i don't expect that tag to change very soon (wouldn't mind being proven wrong though). It's been around a long time here.

Also be aware not everyone here exists in very trans-aware spaces and whatnot like i'm guessing you might be, which is probably where this term is the most sensitive. So you will likely get pushback you might or might not be expecting.

For a lot of trans people that don't like the word, it's more about people labelling them with a porn term when they might not feel comfortable being seen as "being like that person i saw in a porn." It's suffering being a shemale fan in <current year> when the genre is actively being murdered by political activists and the sycophant enablers trying to combine it with [futa] to push their political agenda because the existence of the word implying the idea that a distinction exists between shemales and biological women angers them. The amount of works actually tagged shemale has been greatly on the decline as of recent yeras, but at the end of the day it's not really that big of a deal. Even a few years back on porn sites you can still find the term shemale being used most of the time. So no the term is not as outdated as you might think. It's only in recent years, after the pornhub content purge, when individual trans fem creators actually move in on these platforms that you see the term trans getting used more. Also if you search up creators not from Europe or the USA, mostly South America, the term shemale is still used quite often.

The reason the shemale tag is on the decline isn't because some political agenda bullshit, but simply because they are not being archived here. Even in the past most works tagged with "shemale" are actually only "futanari". In fact I'd argue most western artist nowadays draw shemale (or transfem if you want the modernized term) instead of futanari. On the other hand, it's the term "Futanari" that has been bastardized mostly because of 3d hentai using models without a vagina due to it making it easier to animate two versions.
