Comic Media Bessatsu Parodic Vol. 4 serves as the final issue of Studio SFC’s R18 imprint, marking the culmination of the circle’s relatively brief but stylistically distinctive activity between 1983 to late 1987.
Studio SFC, an abbreviation derived from Keio University’s Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC), where many of its core members were affiliated, emerged during a formative period in the expansion of what I like to personally consider as 'animator doujinshi' - works created by or for those working in and or close to the industry itself. The circle developed a recognizable visual identity through its vibrant, rainbow-toned covers and comparatively high production values, features that distinguished its output among other Ani-paro works in my opinion.
Studio SFC produced two principal imprints: Comic Media Bessatsu Parodic (Paろでぃっく), dedicated exclusively to R18 material, and COMIC Media (COMICメディア), which focused primarily on original manuscripts and occasionally featured guest contributors, including figures such as Kyosuke Nanba and Kozo Sone. The dual imprints were funded by the artists behind the circle with such high production values simply because of their jobs within the industry itself, garnering appeal through sales at Comiket.
Although the circle disbanded by early 1987, several issues that have been documented suggest that several members were professionally active as mangaka or animators. Some reportedly contributed to Sunrise’s Studio II during the production of Arion (1985), whereas their works were actively being read by animators such as Kenji Kanamori and Kumiko Takahashi. Kenji Kanamori (working under multiple pseudonyms and only intermittently active) is known to have supported the imprint.
The main members of Studio SFC were brothers Tetsuya and Akira Tanizaki and animator/illustrator Naoki Tanimoto (谷本直樹, also known as “Representative N”).
The issue in question lacks a formal colophon or printed date. However, internal textual references and signed contributions suggest a provenance of 1987, likely prepared for Comiket 32 (August 8–9, 1987, Tokyo Ryutsu Center). Contributing artists include Kozo Sone (under the pseudonym “Sono2”) and Tetsuya Tanizaki (谷崎てつや) while the other members are unnamed.
The volume draws upon works that debuted between 1985 and 1986 — Arion (1985), Vampire Hunter D (1985), Castle in the Sky (1986), and Mobile Suit ZZ Gundam (1986). The particular story used for ZZ Gundam in this text references the conclusion of ZZ Gundam, the last episode airing on January 31st of 1987. These intertextual markers support a late-1987 dating.
In a unique ending of the circle's life, the final parody work, titled "Castle of Idling / Spinning Wheels SFC (空転の城 SFC), explicitly satirizes the studio’s own intensive production schedule and expresses ambivalence toward lolicon-oriented content, while also incorporating a pointed parody of Hayao Miyazaki through the substitution of his likeness in place of Muska from Castle in the Sky. Studio SFC noted that they were operating "in the red" and had lost a significant amount of funding to continue and had hundreds of unsold books. "かつてSFCも赤字に追い込み 人々を同情させ同人誌界を振り回した恐怖の本だったんだよ" - “SFC once drove itself into the red, stirred up public sympathy, and shook the dōjin world—it was a frightening publication.”
As the studio disbanded by the late 1980s, there is some interesting lore in that Tetsuya Tanazaki is the creator and owner of the MMD Cup. Tetsuya, under the moniker "Gorogoro", was involved in a variety of controversies that lead others to learning about Studio SFC's activities prior:

On the incest tag(s) - Arion is shown in the chapter to fuck not only his mother, but Lesphina. Its implied that Lesphina is his sister in the OVA / manga.
@Dalewyn it's a reference to the final episode of Lupin the III part 2 where Hayao Miyazaki introduced the same robots and even some character motifs that would show up in Castle in the Sky / Laputa.
